Missouri man arrested for allegedly stealing car at gas station

A Missouri man was arrested Saturday morning for allegedly stealing a car at the East Ninth Street Huck’s gas station.

The 2007 Chevy Impala was stolen a few minutes after 7 a.m. and police were able to ping the victim’s cell phone to locate the vehicle nearby at Kroger on Skyline Drive.

It was found unoccupied and running in the Kroger parking lot and the suspect, 39-year old Matthew Jones of Jackson, Missouri, was inside the store.

An arrest citation says Jones had slurred speech and was confused and was manifestly under the influence of a substance.

He was arrested for felony auto theft, public intoxication, giving an officer a false name and driving with a suspended license.
