Elkton stabbing suspect arraigned Monday morning

Arraignment was held Monday morning in Todd District Court for the man accused of stabbing his stepfather during a dispute last week in Elkton.

Judge Kenneth Williams entered a not guilty plea on behalf of 37-year old Robert Larue and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Monday of next week.

The judge also appointed a public defender to represent Larue at the hearing.

Elkton police were called to 107 Morningside Drive Wednesday afternoon regarding a domestic altercation in progress and were talking to the caller outside when officers heard sounds of another altercation inside the home.

A police report says they found Larue on top of 68-year old Phillip Whittaker on a bed. He allegedly had a knife in his hand and was brandishing it above his head as if in the middle of a stabbing motion.

Whittaker was covered in blood and Larue followed commands from officers to put the knife down, according to the report.

It was discovered Whittaker had four stab wounds and he was flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
