Pendleton, Stevens named Champions of Fort Campbell

The U.S. Army is naming its 2021 Champions of Fort Campbell and two local leaders are among them.

Christian County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Kelli Pendleton and longtime volunteer of the Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee, Royce Stevens are among this year’s champions.

Pendleton and Stevens were presented the award by the Commanding General of the 101st Airborne Division and Fort Campbell, Major General Brian Winski, who talked about their many contributions to the military community.

Pendleton is quoted in a news release as saying, “A patriotic passion grew in me from the first time that I stepped foot on Fort Campbell. I will always champion for our great Army installation and the military families who serve our country.”

Stevens has attended and helped at more than 300 welcome home ceremonies and loves talking to the families as they await their soldier’s return and then greeting the soldiers who have no one waiting for them.

She says, “I an extremely humbled, honored, and excited to have been chosen as a Champion of Fort Campbell.”

Champions of Fort Campbell are people who have made efforts to support the post and its programs, enhancing the quality of life for soldiers and their families.
