KYTC pre-treating bridges and overpasses for possible light snow event Saturday night

There’s a chance for a very light snow event Saturday night in western Kentucky and motorists should be on the lookout for Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crews who have been pre-treating potential trouble areas with their brine solution.

The focus has been on bridges, overpasses and other potential trouble spots, according to a news release.

When brine is sprayed on pavement, it dries to leave a fine powder coating of salt that sticks to the road surface and is available to be activated by falling snow in the early hours of a snow and ice event.

Minimal snowfall is expected and temperatures above freezing before and at the onset of the precipitation should limit the travel issues.

Major travel difficulties are not expected, but motorists may want to allow themselves a little extra time before venturing out Saturday night.
