A woman was arrested for assault and criminal child abuse following an incident Tuesday night on South Jessup Avenue.
An arrest citation for 29-year old Mechelle McGregor of Hopkinsville says she was in an argument with the father of her child about 10 p.m. at a home in the 400 block of South Jessup when she grabbed a knife and had it in her hand.
She allegedly struck the man with her hand during the confrontation, breaking the skin.
When officers arrived, the report says McGregor would not put her child down while she resisted attempts to take her into custody.
She was eventually arrested and charged with fourth-degree domestic assault, resisting arrest and third-degree criminal child abuse.
