A Pembroke woman and an Elkton man were injured in a two-vehicle accident early Wednesday morning between Pembroke and Fairview.

Christian County Sheriff’s Sgt. Adam Vanderkolk says 23-year old Michaela Whittington of Pembroke was attempting to make a left turn from Bell Chapel Road onto KY 115 a few minutes after 4 a.m. and drove into the path of a northbound vehicle operated by 53-year old Timmy Dewayne Shemwell of Elkton.

Their vehicles collided, with Whittington going into a ditch and Shemwell colliding head-on with a utility pole.

Both drivers were transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

Sgt. Vanderkolk says Pennyrile Electric will have to replace the pole, so members in that area are likely to experience an outage for repairs.
