Logan County pursuit ends in Todd County with arrest

A high speed pursuit that began Tuesday in Logan County ended in Todd County with the arrest of a man on multiple charges.

Logan County deputies were called to a home on West Old Volney Road near Olmstead for a man who had allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and stolen multiple cell phones.

Captain Clint Wright observed 35-year old Marvelle Woodard of Springfield, Tennessee traveling on that roadway near East Jefferson Davis Highway and attempted to make a traffic stop.

Woodard allegedly fled at a high rate of speed toward Elkton until he failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into a field.

He then fled on foot and allegedly tried to hide a gun, marijuana, pills and scales behind a tree.

Woodard was soon caught and arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, driving on a suspended license, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, fourth-degree domestic assault, trafficking in marijuana, trafficking in a controlled substance, felony theft and use of restricted ammunition during commission of a felony.

The Elkton Police Department assisted in the investigation.
