Trends showing decrease in COVID-19 in Ky. says Governor Beshear

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear says the data shows that the state is getting to a better place where it comes to COVID-19, reporting 1,623 new cases Monday.

That puts the overall total in the Commonwealth at 364,507, and the positivity rate was down a little once again, now at 8.85 percent.  The governor says the signs are there that things are starting to look up for the Commonwealth, especially as vaccines continued to be distributed.

He extended the face mask mandate for another 30 days, saying the proof is in the numbers that it is working to keep spread of the virus down.

Governor Beshear once again extended the executive order allowing individuals to renew their driver’s licenses online through drive.ky.gov to keep people from having to do so in-person if they so wish. Kentucky has administered approximately 4 million tests since the pandemic began.

He says that Kentucky is actually administering vaccinations to people faster than they are receiving them from the federal government due to supply left over from early in the process.

The governor reported 35 new COVID-19 related deaths, putting the death toll at 3,780.  The Tennessee Department of Health reported 1,326 new cases there, along with 103 new deaths, putting the death toll in the Volunteer State at 9,753.
