The United Way of the Pennyrile campaign celebration ceremony was very different this year, as it took place virtually via Facebook.
The video can be viewed on the United Way of the Pennyrile Facebook page, and it still celebrated all the many volunteers, donations and agencies that help benefit the many community agencies the United Way supports. Executive Director Betsy Bond says they were definitely impacted by the pandemic, as everyone has been, and it made raising money for the campaign somewhat difficult—but their generous donors still rose to the occasion.
Several awards were handed out, including the J. Williams Flowers Award, which was presented to Dan Stahl, who says he was humbled to receive and is a staunch believer in the United Way.
Bond says donations continued to be counted, but so far, they have raised $606,461 to go towards their 20 partner agencies in Christian, Caldwell, Todd and Trigg counties.
Previous winner of the Beverly Whitfield Award Lucas Stagner presented the award to Nancy Flick, who accepted the award on behalf of her husband, Robert Flick, saying he was a man who never failed to be there when needed and was a huge supporter of the United Way.
The People Helping People Award in the small business category went to Bastin Optometric, the medium business went to Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority, large went to H&R Agri-Power and the overall People Helping People Award was claimed by Pennyrile Electric.
