Unemployment up across region last month

Unemployment was up from November to December in all nine Pennyrile counties.

Christian County’s jobless rate was 6.1 percent, up from 5.5 percent in November and up from 4.9 percent in December of 2019. It equated to 1,544 people who were looking for work and unable to find it.

Todd County had the state’s second-lowest unemployment rate at an even 4 percent, up from 3.3 percent in November and from 3.8 percent one year ago.

The jobless rate in Trigg County was 6.2 percent, up nine tenths of a point from the previous month and from 4.1 percent a year ago.

The state average was 5.7 percent and the national number was 6.5 percent.
