Three Christian County public schools were placed on lockdown Monday afternoon after an alleged threat against a student and an arrest has been made.
A female student at Gateway Academy received a threat a through social media messaging service at about 2:50 p.m. from a male juvenile who said he had a gun and that he was coming to campus to shoot her, according to Hopkinsville Police Sgt. Rico Rodriguez.
He says officers were able to confirm the threat was made and Gateway, Christian County Middle School and Christian County High School were all placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure.
The suspect, who Rodriguez says is independently home schooled, was later arrested and charged with second-degree terroristic threatening.
The lockdown at the schools was released a little more than an hour after it began.
