Ky. gains 1,998 COVID-19 cases, 40 new deaths

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear reported 1,998 new COVID-19 cases Monday, along with 40 new deaths.

There was no live update Monday, but in a press release the governor stated that the positivity rate decreased for the third day in a row, now down to 11.64 percent.  The overall case total in the Commonwealth is at 328,668 and with 40 new deaths, the death toll is at 3,167.

Governor Beshear says there was a decreased in newly reported COVID cases last week compared to the week before—about 3,749 less cases were reported.  Also, around 83,000 Kentuckians received the first round of the vaccine, more than the week prior.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 2,430 new cases Monday, along with 39 new deaths, putting the death toll in the Volunteer State at 8,430.
