Todd County remembers MLK with annual service

The Todd County Laity and Ministers Alliance hosted its annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day commemoration in a virtual format Sunday, imploring people to come together to make a better community and nation.

The service featured several musical performances by the Rev. Lisa Lewis Balboa and the featured speaker was Pastor Phillip Suber of First Missionary Baptist Church of Elkton.

He talked about “A Bridge to a Better America” and says a dialogue between people will lead to a better society.

Pastor Suber called on churches to set the example and begin the change.

Each school had a winner of its MLK essay contest—Lily Templeman at North Todd Elementary, Molly Cumbee at South Todd Elementary, Anna Mallory at Todd Middle and Kaitlyn Chavez at Todd County Central High School.

Templeman says Dr. King continues to inspire Americans, young and old, decades later.
