Museums of Historic Hopkinsville to host ‘Food For Thought’ book club

The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County are getting back into the swing of being open for business, and they will be launching a new book club program.

Executive Director Alissa Keller appeared on WHOP Tuesday morning, and says the book club will be held virtually for now to discuss issues and details of local history over the lunch hour. The first book will be ‘The Dark Side of Hopkinsville’ by Hopkinsville native Ted Poston—and many future works will also either focus on the community, or someone who came from the area.

Poston was the first African-American man to work for the New York Post, and she says his stories of Hopkinsville take a light hearted approach to the issues and joys of the community.

Copies of the book can be found at the museum for $17.50 for those who need a copy and wish to participate in the “Food for Thought” program. The museums are also open once again for the public to visit on Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. with plenty of room for social distancing while getting out and doing something different while learning more about local history.
