Western Kentucky residents can expect calm and chilly weather this week, with no significant precipitation in the forecast.
During the weekly briefing with the National Weather Service in Paducah, Meteorologist Rick Shanklin says cloudy skies will likely be as close as the region comes to rain or snow and high temperatures will moderate into the upper 40’s.
Temperatures and precipitation look normal in the eight-to-fourteen day outlook and Shanklin says the average daily temperature actually starts going up later this month after bottoming out in mid-January.
Shanklin noted that it was one year ago Monday when 11 tornadoes touched down in the region, including in Christian County, and severe weather caused damage to Ruff Park and the Christian County Senior Center.
