Several people were hospitalized, including a Hopkinsville police officer, following an accident Saturday night on Dawson Springs Road in the city.
Few details were available, but HPD Chief Clayton Sumner says an officer was on Dawson Springs Road near West Seventh Street just before 8:30 when he was rear-ended by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.
The officer was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center and occupants of the other vehicle were also taken to area hospitals for injuries, including at least one who was flown by Air Evac, according to Chief Sumner. The officer was reported to be doing okay Sunday morning.
The incident remains under investigation and Kentucky State Police was called to the scene to investigate the crash.
Names of those involved have not been released.
