U of L. UT and Xavier win, Wofford loses Wednesday night

David Johnson had 17 points including a crucial free throw with five seconds remaining as Louisville edged 19th ranked Virginia Tech last night 73-71. The Cardinals improved to 8-1 overall/3-0 in the ACC with the win. Louisville is back in action next Wednesday at Wake Forest after Saturday’s game with Georgia Tech was postponed due to Covid-19 issues involving Georgia Tech.

Josiah Jordan-James and Victor Bailey each had 17 points as ninth ranked Tennessee got by Arkansas 79-74 in Southeastern Conference action. The Vols are now 8-1 overall and 2-1 in the SEC. Tennessee is back on the hardwood Saturday at Texas A&M.

The Xavier Musketeers ended a two-game skid with a 69-61 home victory over the St John’s Red Storm. Former University Heights standout KyKy Tandy had one bucket in two minutes of playing time. Xavier will next play on Sunday when it hosts Providence.

Tray Hollowell had five points and four rebounds in Wofford’s 84-75 loss to UNC Greensboro. The Terriers are now 5-4 and play at VMI next Wednesday.
