Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith is the winner of the 2020 Heisman Memorial Trophy. He is the first wide receiver to win the coveted award since Michigan’s Desmond Howard in 1991. The other finalists were Crimson Tide quarterback Mac Jones, Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and Florida quarterback Kyle Trask. Smith has 105 catches, 1,641 receiving yards, and 21 touchdowns this season
The College Football Playoff national championship game is on as scheduled. CFP executive director Bill Hancock tells ESPN the game remains on pace for Monday despite reports of it possibly being postponed. Ohio State has had COVID-19 issues within the program.
