The New Year’s holiday can be a deadly holiday on Kentucky roads, but officials say it doesn’t have to be if motorists plan ahead and do the right things.
Kentucky State Trooper Corey King says DUI arrests have been down in recent years around New Year’s Eve and he attributes it to folks knowing the dangers of driving drunk and knowing extra police patrols will be out looking to arrest anyone who’s impaired behind the wheel.
He says there’s no excuse to not find a safe and sober ride home with so many options available.
KSP will have troopers in high collision areas during the extended holiday weekend looking to stop anyone making the roads less safe.
Trooper King says it’s also important to slow down and to always wear your seat belt.
