Oak Grove man facing multiple charges following pursuit

An Oak Grove man was arrested and faces multiple charges, following a vehicle pursuit Monday afternoon in Christian County.

According to a report from Kentucky State Police, Trooper Hunter Carroll had been patrolling on the Pennyrile Parkway when he saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.  He initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle did not stop and instead began to flee. The pursuit continued approximately 3 miles, until one of the vehicles tires burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

The operator, later identified as 23-year old Valdarius Starks of Oak Grove, fled on foot, leaving a female and two children in the vehicle. Trooper Carroll checked the welfare of the three remaining occupants, who reported no injuries.

Starks was later located at an Oak Grove residence and taken into custody.  He was charged with two counts of fleeing or evading police, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, reckless driving, driving on a DUI suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident, two counts of failure to use a child restraint device and several traffic violations.

The Christian County Jail website lists additional charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and kidnapping of an adult.
