Local emergency numbers coming back online

It looks like things are starting to get back to normal for local phone service following the Christmas Day Nashville bombing that shut off AT&T service for the region.

The Hopkinsville-Christian County ECC posted an update Sunday night stating that citizens should be able to dial 911 once again and reach a dispatcher—the service had become unavailable in the days following the explosion.  You can also once again dial 270-890-1300, the non-emergency line, once again.  They are asking for patience from the community as the backup system they are operating on makes them unable to tell the difference between admin and 911 calls.

If you dial 270-890-1300 and you are not immediately connected to a dispatcher, hang up and try again. Kentucky State Police Post 2 phone lines are also back in working order.

Todd County Dispatch posted Sunday that AT&T has rerouted their 911 calls to the admin lines, so if a citizen dials 911, it should get through.  AT&T internet service also returned to most of the region sometime Sunday.
