Heavy rain, some wintry weather possible towards end of the week

While wintry weather is not out of the question to end 2020, it’s looking like heavy rain will be more of the story for our western Kentucky area heading into Friday.

Christopher Noles with the National Weather Service in Paducah says the heaviest areas of rain will be to our northeast, but all area can expect to see at least some periods of heavy rain and some wintry mix, and any impacts that come with that.

The models could change between now and then, but some areas could see some wintry mix or sleet Thursday night into Friday morning, though he doesn’t expect much impact to roads.

It’s still too early to tell what accumulations could occur, but they’ll have a more confident outlook in the coming days.

Until then, Monday and Tuesday are expected to be quiet, weather wise, with highs in the mid-40’s, before some rain starts to creep in on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
