Gov. Beshear reports 1,509 new COVID-19 cases, 69 deaths

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear gave a brief update on COVID-19 Sunday, reporting 1,509 new cases.

Those new numbers puts the overall total in the Commonwealth at 257,063, and the positivity rate remains pretty steady at 8.06 percent.  There were 21 newly reported COVID-19 deaths in the state, putting that total at 2,555 since the pandemic began.

There are currently 1,504 Kentuckians hospitalized, with 411 in the Intensive Care Unit and 217 on a ventilator.  Kentucky has administered approximately 3.3 million COVID-19 tests.  While most of the state remains red on the state incidence rate map, including Christian, Todd and Trigg Counties, Caldwell County is now ‘orange’, along with Crittenden County.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 3,188 new cases Sunday, along with 69 new deaths—putting the death toll in the Volunteer State at 6,512.
