Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron is urging people to stay vigilant for possible COVID-19 vaccination scams.
The attorney general says scammers have been finding ways to take advantage of people all throughout the pandemic and this is no different. As the vaccine becomes available, fraudsters may try to take advantage of consumers by impersonating distributors, medical providers, or even local health departments claiming they need personal information or payment in exchange for a vaccine.
His advice includes, do not pay for the promise of a vaccine, if you receive a call requesting social security or banking information, hang up at once, and to always check with a healthcare provider before purchasing any medicine or treatments that claim to be as effective as the vaccine without receiving the shot.
Vaccine scams should be reported immediately to the Attorney General’s Office by calling 1-888-432-9257.
