KYTC hopes to remove most of I-24 work zone by Thursday

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is hopeful that the I-24 work zone lane restrictions in Trigg and Caldwell counties will be mostly removed in time for Christmas Eve.

Spokesman Keith Todd says the work zone between the 51 and 65 mile marker will continue to have active work areas through Wednesday.

The contractor continues barrier wall removal activities between the 65 and 58 mile markers, westbound traffic has returned to normal flow from about the 58 mile marker to the 51 mile marker and a paving crew was planning spot-repairs along the westbound lanes between the 65 and 58 mile markers early this week.

Eastbound traffic is running on the new concrete pavement from the 51 to 65 mile marker and intermittent eastbound lane restrictions may be up until Wednesday to allow finish work.

While there have been a few delays due to weather, the contractor is optimistic the westbound barrier wall can be removed by Thursday.  A short section of one-lane traffic may continue through the holidays for westbound motorists.
