Hopkinsville woman cited into court for cruelty to animals

A Hopkinsville woman was cited into court Friday for animal cruelty.

Animal Control was called to a Bell Street home to pick up a deceased dog, according to the citation, which says the deceased dog was in a dog house on a heavy chain and that it was severely emaciated.

Police say the lack of body weight coupled with the cold weather resulted in the death of the dog.

There was no straw in any of the three dog houses on the property and that water bowls were frozen or empty.

HPD charged 56-year old Jaqueline Richardson of Hopkinsville with second-degree cruelty to animals.
