Vaccines continue to rollout, Ky. gains 2,898 new COVID-19 cases

Kentucky continues to see more vaccines distributed to hospitals across the state, and Governor Andy Beshear reported 2,898 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday.

All 11 health facilities that had been set to receive initial shipments of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines have now done so, with plans in place to get those administers to those in the first phase as soon as possible.  Governor Beshear calls it very exciting, saying the end of the pandemic is now closer than ever, and the state is continuing to see fewer cases week over week, with Wednesday’s number down from last Wednesday.

He urges everyone to have patience, and continue to mask up, maintain social distance, avoid unnecessary travel and crowds, and practice proper hand washing. Twenty-three more Kentuckians have died in relation to COVID-19, bringing the death toll up to 2,262—the positivity rate has stayed steady the last few days, at 8.52 percent.

The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting 11,410 new COVID-19 cases there, along with 53 new deaths. There are currently 2,874 Tennesseans being hospitalized due to coronavirus.
