Christian Fiscal Court getting $812k more in CARES funding

Christian Fiscal Court requested its final payment of CARES relief funding from round one Wednesday morning and made its formal request for a second round.

Judge-Executive Steve Tribble says the third request from round one of CARES Act funding is for about $817,000 that will be used to pay salaries of sheriff’s office and jail personnel.

Christian County officials recently learned they were eligible for one-time payment of about $812,000 from a second round of CARES expenditures and Judge Tribble says some of that money will also reimburse COVID testing expenses for the health department, in addition to salaries from the sheriff’s office and jail.

Fiscal Court accepted ownership of the recently renovated Carnegie Library Building and Magistrate Darrell Gustafson says the county will continue leasing it to Hopkinsville Carnegie Library, Inc. until a permanent use for the building is determined.

Christian County Regional Animal Shelter Director Irene Grace says they took in 158 total cats and dogs in November and found homes for 199.
