Seventy-nine percent of Todd County students opt for in-person learning when schools reopen

About eight out of 10 Todd County school students will go to school in a building when the district returns to in-person learning in some form next month.

The Todd County Public School System recently completed another open enrollment period and Director of Pupil Personnel Jennifer Pope told the board Monday night that 79 percent of students have elected in-person learning and the remaining 21-percent will stick with virtual instruction.

Superintendent Marc Thomas tells WHOP News a decision will be made later this week regarding how exactly for Todd County to proceed when counties that are red on the COVID incidence rate map are allowed to return to some type of in-person learning January 4.

Pope says just over 94 percent of Todd County students have been participating in the non-traditional instruction.

She also noted the creation of a homework help form that can be found on the district’s website where parents and students can go to receive assistance from a teacher.

In other action, the Todd County School Board received a clean audit report Monday night.
