The Pennyrile Parkway was closed in Christian County by a tractor-trailer accident and fuel spill Saturday morning.
It happened a few minutes before 3:30 a.m. and Christian County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Goulet says the man driving the semi had been northbound when near the McLean Avenue interchange when he possibly suffered a medical episode.
His semi went into the median and overturned approximately three times before coming to rest with the tanker carrying diesel and gasoline lying on the in the southbound lanes and the cab on the northbound side.
The driver was transported by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
All four lanes of the parkway remain closed between the 8 and 11 mile-markers while the accident and fuel spill was being cleared. Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham estimated a total of 2,000 gallons of fuel spilled.
