Governor Andy Beshear announced 3,558 new cases of COVID-19 and 24 more deaths Saturday as he announced the first shipment of the Pfizer vaccine will soon arrive.
The positivity rate is now at 8.79 percent, 1,711 Kentuckians are in the hospital with the virus, 423 are in the ICU and 199 are on a ventilator.
Included in the latest deaths are two Muhlenberg County women—ages 88 and 98—and it brings the Commonwealth’s pandemic death toll to 2,192.
Menifee in eastern Kentucky is the only non-red county the state incidence rate map.
Beshear says with the FDA’s approval of the Pfizer vaccine on Friday, Kentucky’s first shipment is expected to arrive early in the coming week.
Tennessee reported 6,691 new cases and 73 additional deaths Saturday. At least 2,699 Tennesseans are currently in the hospital with the virus.
