The Philadelphia Phillies are going to have a new face in charge of baseball operations. According to ESPN, Philadelphia is expected to name Dave Dombrowski the new President of Baseball Operations. Dombrowski helped build the World Series-winning 2018 Boston Red Sox and has been a general manager for multiple franchises. The Phillies are in search of their first playoff appearance since 2011.
Colorado Rockies pitcher Daniel Bard and Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez are MLB’s Comeback Players of the Year. Bard earned the NL honor after returning to the big leagues following a six-year hiatus. He finished 4-and-2 with six saves and a 3.65 ERA in 23 games with Colorado. Perez grabbed the AL award after he returned from Tommy John surgery. Perez posted a career-high .333 batting average while hitting 11 home runs and 32 RBI in 37 games for KC.
