Mayor talks small business stimulus program, Gander remembrance ceremony

Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch appeared on WHOP Friday morning to remind people of upcoming events and encourage business to apply for a stimulus grant.

COVID-19 continues to impact the city and its residents, from the businesses to tourism and more—Lynch says the small business stimulus program is still open for applications for eligible business, and it’s open until the end of December.

Grants in the amounts of $750 to $2,000 are still available to those small businesses who need the help to balance the impact of the pandemic.

Christmas has come to Hopkinsville in the form of decorations, with downtown, the Visitors Center, and the Trail of Tears Park lit up, along with numerous businesses. Mayor Lynch reminded people of the Gander Memorial ceremony set to take place Saturday at 12:12 p.m., which can also be viewed online on the Military Affairs Committee Facebook page.

He says the residents are encouraged to view the ceremony and remember the 248 Fort Campbell soldiers and eight crewmembers who were killed when their plane went down in Gander, Newfoundland on December 12, 1985.
