Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear reported 3,691 new cases of COVID-19 Friday, while also reporting that the positivity rate has fallen below nine percent.
The positivity rate fell to 8.88 percent, declining now for over a week, and Governor Beshear says that’s excellent news, even if the number of cases being found are still very high—he hopes the good news helps everyone have the strength to continue with the health guidelines for a while longer. He says, “These numbers are still high and we are still watching for any increases related to the Thanksgiving holiday, but we are making progress in our fight against this invisible enemy.”
The brings the overall total of cases in the Commonwealth up to 217,120, and the state of Kentucky has administered over 3 million coronavirus tests.
Twenty-two more Kentuckians have died in relation to COVID-19, bringing the death toll to 2,168. All but two counties on the state incidence rate map are now in the ‘red’ critical zone.
The Tennessee Department of Health reported 7,289 new COVID-19 cases, along with 87 new deaths—there are currently2,640 Tennesseans hospitalized in relation to coronavirus.
