Illinois man arrested on I-24 on gun, fake money charges

A traffic stop Tuesday by the Christian County Sheriff’s Department led to the arrest of an Illinois man on multiple charges.

Deputy Clevin Robinson stopped 35-year old Darren Curtis of Robins, Illinois for speeding near the 77 mile-marker of I-24 and a computer check showed him to be sought on a Wisconsin warrant for possession of a firearm by a felon.

A search of his vehicle allegedly revealed a bag containing counterfeit cash, a defaced gun and several loaded magazines.

Curtis was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed deadly weapon by a felon, possession of a defaced firearm and several other traffic-related offenses.
