COVID-19 case numbers have been rapidly increasing in Christian County over the last several weeks and health officials are urging local residents to take the necessary precautions to slow the spread of the virus while the world awaits mass distribution of multiple vaccines.
Amanda Sweeney of the Christian County Health Department appeared Wednesday morning on WHOP and says case numbers and COVID deaths have been increasing at an alarming rate.
There’s no solid timetable, but Sweeney is hopeful anyone who wants a vaccine will be able to get one by sometime next summer.
She reiterated that the first doses of vaccine in Christian County will be administered to residents of long-term care facilities and frontline healthcare workers.
Sweeney urged any healthcare provider interested in administering coronavirus vaccines to contact the health department.
