A Madisonville man was arrested for attempted murder early Sunday morning following an alleged assault of his mother.
The victim told Madisonville police that she woke up about 2 a.m. to find her son, 31-year old Nathaniel Spears of Mae Von Drive, straddling her on the bed with a knife.
She was able to fight the knife away from Spears, but he allegedly continued to assault her and caused injuries that required treatment at Baptist Health Hospital.
Spears was arrested and charged with attempted murder and second-degree strangulation.
