Woman sought for questioning in Trigg murder arrested

The woman sought by Kentucky State Police for questioning in connection with the September 14 murder of Thelma “Ileen” Barnett at her home on Will Jackson Road in Trigg County was arrested Friday night.

The Trigg County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that 29-year old Keisha Stewart of Cadiz was at a home on Rocky Ridge Road and deputies along with the Cadiz Police Department arrested her without incident.

She’s currently lodged in the Christian County Jail on charges of felony auto theft and a warrant for failure to appear in court.

As previously reported, 42-year old Jonathan McCoy of Cadiz was already jailed on charges of murder, kidnapping, tampering with evidence, arson and abuse of a corpse.

An arrest warrant says McCoy tied Barnett’s arms behind her back, strangled her to death and then set her home on fire with her body still inside.
