Another pretrial hearing was set Wednesday in the case against Alan Barnett, the man charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision that killed Jared Yoder in August.
Barnett appeared virtually in the Christian Circuit Courtroom of Judge Andrew Self along with defense attorney James Greene, who requested another pretrial conference be set in January to allow him more time go over evidence and speak with witnesses.
Judge Self granted that request, setting the next hearing for January 6.
Barnett is charged with leaving the scene of an accident with a death or serious injury after he allegedly had been headed north in the 13000 block of Madisonville Road about 5:40 a.m. on August 19 and struck a bicycle ridden by the 20-year old Yoder.
Yoder was pronounced dead at the scene and Barnett reportedly kept driving. He was arrested two days later at his home.
