Small businesses thankful for community support on Shop Small Saturday

Shop Small Saturday took place as planned the Saturday following Thanksgiving in Hopkinsville, and the owner of Milkweed Health and Harmony Emporium says she was happily surprised at the turnout.

Julie-Anna Carlisle has been serving the people of Hopkinsville at her business for several years, and says she wasn’t sure what to expect out of today with the ongoing worldwide pandemic.  Shop Small Saturday is typically their busiest day of the year and Saturday saw a good amount of people supporting her small business.

She says shopping small and local is more important than ever this year, as it could be what keeps some of them open in the future, and she’s forever grateful for the support the community has given her.

There were several businesses open and offering deals and prizes to customers who participated in the event, including the Christmas Market on the Square at the Farmer’s Market where people could vote for their favorite small business to support the United Way.
