Leaf collection underway in Hopkinsville

Leaf collection in the City of Hopkinsville is underway and will continue throughout the months of December and January.

Hopkinsville Solid Waste Enterprise says leaf collection will continue through January 31 and they urge people to not mix other trash, tree branches, rocks and other debris—this could cause your leaves to be passed over during collection.

Leaves are collected by one of two large vacuum trucks that cross each section of the city, making two complete passes through each neighborhood and multiple passes on major thoroughfares.

A news release from the City says leaf pick up will not necessarily be the same day you receive regular trash collection service, but leaves placed in plastic bags will be collected on your regular service day.

Residents can go to hoptown.org/leaves for the latest schedule of collection zones and other guidelines during leaf season.
