Davenport Lane in Christian County will soon be the site of a new headquarters for the Christian County Rescue Team, thanks to a very generous donation from a local couple.
Ground has already been moved and the start to construction will start as soon as this weekend on the 7,700 square foot facility located near Mr. Mulch off of the Eagle Way Bypass—it’s a building that’s been much needed for some time, says Rescue Team Chief Randy Graham.
Thanks to Clay and Sherrie Smith with Pennyrile Ford, that can become a reality after they donated $75,000 towards the project Friday, more than their originally pledged $50,000. Clay says he is proud to help out the Rescue Team, as they helped him greatly during a time of need when he was in a wreck several years ago.
Graham says that money will not sit in a bank—it will be put into use almost at once.
He says it’s likely the grand opening for the new building will take place in the summer of 2021, which will also be just in time for the Rescue Team’s 50th anniversary. Fundraising efforts continue to help reach a goal of $50,000, and Graham says any donations can be sent to P.O. Box 392, Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
