Many Americans who were healthy and financially stable last Thanksgiving find themselves in very different circumstances during the 2020 pandemic and Pioneers, Inc. did their part to help anyone who needed it Thursday morning.
The Pioneers cooked and handed out meals at their facility on North Main Street for two hours Thanksgiving morning. William Brown chairs the program and says it began in 1984 as a community outreach that’s become an annual tradition.
He says thousands of families and individuals have gotten a hot meal over the decades.
Brown says serving others helps him and the other Pioneers be thankful for the blessings in their lives.
While the dining in and delivery options weren’t available because of pandemic guidelines, the outreach was still successful with cars lining up in front of the Pioneers complex to be handed a Thanksgiving dinner.
