Canadian filmmaker making Gander crash documentary

The Canadian Broadcasting Company is doing a documentary on the December 12, 1985 plane crash near Gander, Newfoundland that killed 248 members of the 101st Airborne Division and eight crew members and they are looking for individuals who were directly impacted.

The soldiers had been on the way home from a peacekeeping mission in the Sinai Peninsula when their chartered DC-8 crashed, killing all on board.

The CBC documentary will take an uplifting positive look at life after this crash through the eyes of Gold Star 101st Airborne families, Arrow Air crew families, first responders, and the residents of Gander.

The documentary is expected to be shown on CBC television during the spring or summer of 2021. Arrangements will be made so Americans can also view the documentary.

It will be produced by veteran film maker Fabian James.

Families who lost a loved one in the crash or anyone who believes they are uniquely qualified to contribute should email Sergeant Bob Smith at rjbobsmith811@outlook.com.
