Grand jury indicts Hopkinsville man for assault

A Christian County grand jury indictment for assault was returned Friday against a man accused of hitting his father with a gun.

The indictment for second-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment was returned against 29-year old Preston Thomas of Hopkinsville.

An arrest citation for Thomas says he was in an argument with his father on October 8 on South Iris Drive when he allegedly pointed a loaded handgun at his father’s head.

A short time later, Thomas is accused of retrieving a shotgun and using it to strike his father on the head and back.

Meanwhile, the grand jury indicted James Choate for second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, alleging he presented a forged check for $601 to the Skyline Drive Minit Mart on October 2.
