EDC Director talks growth, development in region

The South West Kentucky Economic Development Council is working to improve factors throughout the region to attract industry, while marketing the already great assets that are available.

Appearing on WHOP Friday, Executive Director Carter Hendricks says the region is already home to attractive properties that industries look for when considering a location, including good incentives, available buildings, quality of life and more.

They’re partnering with the Christian County Public School System on Fusion, a workforce program that helps prepare students for careers in industry. He says that will pair well with the fact the region is certified as ‘work ready’, and the existing amount of skilled labor.

Hopkinsville Electric System is parting with Pennyrile Electric to offering their fiber internet services to the people of Cadiz, and Hendricks says that’s just one of many ways that local investment can help pave the way towards a better future.

The region was recently ranked a nine out of 10 on a TVA Livability score, which was the highest community score this year and Hendricks says they were honored to receive, as its proof that they’re making the right steps.
