CCPS to have Non-Traditional Instruction two days next week

The Christian County Public School System will move to Non-Traditional Instruction for two days next week before Thanksgiving break to help with COVID-19 mitigation.

Superintendent Chris Bentzel says the virtual learning on those days will allow them to continue intense cleaning efforts in the buildings, and allow the amount of students and staff who are having to close contact quarantine, come off of that quarantine and get back to learning.

The NTI days will be November 23 and 24, and then students will be off for the holiday.  Bentzel is advising both staff and students to keep their number of contacts limited during the break, and always wear that face mask.

He says they will be using that time to also allow students to catch up on assignments, and work with them to hopefully get some grades back where they need to be.

Bentzel once again reiterated that while the incidence rate is monitored and taken into consideration, it is just one of many data points they consider when making a decision whether to continue in-person instruction or go virtual.

Food bundles with nine days of student meals will be available for pick up at each school on Friday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. The CCPS COVID-19 Data Dashboard can be viewed each day on the CCPS Facebook page.
