Kentucky sees record day of COVID-19 cases and deaths

Kentucky saw a record number of both new COVID-19 cases and deaths Friday, with Governor Beshear reporting 3,173 cases and 25 deaths.

He says the pandemic is significantly worsening not just in the state but across the nation, and this is now a very dangerous time for all concerning this virus.  The total in the state is now up to 132,844 and the positivity rate jumped again to 8.68 percent, with the governor saying the power to stop the spread of coronavirus is in our hands.

The 25 new deaths puts that total at 1,647, and includes two men, ages 76 and 94, from Logan County. Governor Beshear says one of those deaths was a veteran Thomson-Hood Veterans Center—he says the escalation cannot be allowed to continue, because too many people are hurting and too many people are dying.

Kentucky has now administered approximately 2.3 million COVID-19 tests.  The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting 3,733 new cases there, along with 64 new deaths. Montgomery County gained 105 new cases, Robertson County added 41 and Stewart County gained ten.
