The deadline for Todd County small businesses to apply for $1,000 pandemic assistance grants was extended until the end of the year Friday morning by Todd Fiscal Court, which also heard an update on CARES Act funding.
The grant program was made using $25,000 in CARES Act funds in partnership with Novelis. The deadline for businesses adversely impacted by the pandemic to apply for the grant had been earlier this month, but only six applied and Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield says others have come forward since with interest.
Todd County will ultimately receive about $410,000 in CARES money and the majority has been used to pay the salaries of first responders and to pay for the ambulance service contract with ComCare.
Emergency Management Director Daniel Smith says the county will be requesting its final installment of cash soon.
County Clerk Cindy O’Bryan reported a 60 percent voter turnout in last week’s general election.
Magistrates gave Judge Mansfield authority to spend $500 annually to join the West Kentucky Coalition of cities and counties in the Pennyrile, Purchase and Green River ADD districts.
