I-24 Eastbound motorists to detour around work zone Thursday evening

Motorists on I-24 Eastbound will have to detour around the work zone in Trigg, Lyon and Caldwell County this evening.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans a temporary detour for eastbound traffic along Interstate 24 in an extended work zone between the 52 and 65 mile markers.

The temporary detour is to allow extensive pavement patching and shoulder repairs along the eastbound one-lane section of I-24 in the work zone.  The work is to improve the driving surface and shoulder area in the work zone to prepare for extra traffic during the busy Thanksgiving holiday travel period.

Eastbound motorists on I-24 should be prepared to encounter a temporary detour starting around 5 p.m. with traffic exiting off at the KY 293 Princeton-Eddyville Exit 45 interchange.   Eastbound motorists will then head south on KY 93, then follow KY 276 to U.S. 68 near Cadiz before rejoining I-24 Eastbound at Exit 65.
